Incredibly exciting opportunity has just presented itself to join a specialist alternative asset management business with high growth ambitions. I’m looking to talk to experienced Financial Controllers who are looking to expand their experience.

This impressive investment business offers a broad range of funds, direct investments and bespoke investment opportunities, including co-investment, across five alternative investment strategies. Their clients include individual investors, financial advisers, institutional investors, charities and endowments, family offices, and business owners.

My client has rich heritage, having been first incorporated in 1857.

Through organic growth and acquisition, the business has grown exponentially. This provides a strong and scalable launchpad from which they will to continue to grow.

To help fuel this growth, my clients is hiring a Financial Controller.

This role will be responsible for all accounting for the property management and Housing Division corporate entities. This will involve monthly management accounts, annual statutory accounts, accounts payable, corporation tax, VAT returns, some company secretarial roles, and cash management.

The division has ambitious plans for growing its assets under management. The role will also assist the divisional Finance Director on fund activities. 

The role will oversee a 6-person finance team and you will be comfortable leading and growing careers of the team.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • General Ledger Administration
  • Oversight of Invoice & expenses processing
  • Preparation of the monthly management accounts & other group reporting
  • Preparation of the statutory annual accounts & audit process
  • Calculation of corporation tax and payments
  • Cash management and liaising with bank
  • Budgeting / forecasting process
  • VAT return and partial exemption calculation  compilation and first draft
  • Database management and effective use of QUBE.

Qualifications /Skills

  • Qualified accountant (0-2+ years PQE)
  • Experience in and knowledge of the investment management and/or residential industry would be a positive
  • Strong Excel ability
  • Strong analytical, judgement and decision-making abilities
  • Highly numerate
  • Confident with large data-sets and creating appropriate reporting for stakeholders
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills particularly explaining finance to non-finance colleagues
  • Desire and ability to work as one team either remotely or in the same office
  • Motivated with high energy
  • Strong organisational and time management skills and results orientation
  • Experience of IFRS and UKGAAP
