Established in Europe seventy years ago, my client is one of the world’s largest kitchen manufacturers, recognised globally for innovative design and the best engineering. With an expansive, 55,000 sq ft head office and distribution warehouse in the North West of England and 75 showrooms nationwide, they have an exciting expansion plan to reach 200 retail showrooms by 2026. This world class kitchen manufacturer & retailer delivers a seamless service from kitchen design concept to installation and aftercare to retail customers and house builders nationwide.

Due to an exciting period of growth and a solid plan in place for further expansion, we are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic IT Director to lead our technology initiatives and ensure seamless operations across our head office, retail and distribution locations.

Position Overview:

The IT Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of information technology and digital systems within the busines. This role will play a pivotal role in driving our technology strategy, enhancing our IT infrastructure, and ensuring efficient and effective technology utilization across the organization. The IT Director will lead a team of IT professionals and work closely with other departments to align technology solutions with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technology Strategy:

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with the company's business objectives.

    • Identify opportunities for technological innovation to drive competitive advantage and business growth.

    • Evaluate and recommend technology investments, ensuring alignment with the company's short-term and long-term goals.

  2. IT Infrastructure Management:

    • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and hardware.

    • Ensure the availability, security, and scalability of IT systems to support business operations.

  3. Team Leadership:

    • Manage and mentor a team of IT professionals, including system administrators, developers, and support staff.

    • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, promoting professional development and growth.

  4. Application Development and Integration:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify software requirements and develop customized applications as needed.

    • Ensure seamless integration of various software systems, including ERP, CRM, e-commerce, and POS.

  1. Data Security and Compliance:

    • Implement and maintain robust cybersecurity measures to protect company data and customer information.

    • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and industry standards.

  2. Vendor Management:

    • Evaluate and manage relationships with third-party vendors, including software providers, service providers, and consultants.

    • Negotiate contracts and agreements to optimize technology investments.

  3. Budgeting and Resource Allocation:

    • Develop and manage the IT budget, allocating resources effectively to meet project and operational needs.

  4. Continuous Improvement:

    • Monitor technology trends and assess their potential impact on the company's operations and strategy.

    • Identify areas for process improvement and operational efficiency within the IT department.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in IT leadership roles, preferably within the retail industry.

  • Strong understanding of retail operations and customer experience enhancement through technology.

  • Demonstrated expertise in IT infrastructure management, application development, and systems integration.

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and data protection regulations.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align technology initiatives with business objectives.

  • Project management skills with a track record of successful implementation of technology projects.
